I got an e-mail from Ethan Jones about a photo competition titled Pause, to Begin. You can apply on their web page and here is some info:
Pause, to Begin is a unique, new photography competition currently accepting applications now until April 1, 2008, and the selected finalists will be announced online April 15, 2008. Ethan Jones and David Wright, the founders of Pause, to Begin, will hit the road in May, 2008 to visit the selected finalists and record the time they experience together.
By traveling to meet the selected finalists in-person, Pause, to Begin becomes a publication that reflects not only the visited photographers and their process for creating, but also the journey of making the book.
Pause, to Begin not only sounds like an awesome idea, it is a welcome change from the standard book competition projects out there. I also strongly suggest you add one of my new favourite blogs, the Pause, to Begin blog to your daily reading experience.
It is rare to come across a blog so early in its development and declare that it will be a favourite but I have to say that the Pause, to Begin blog is just that. The blog seems like one of the few web logs about photography that has the fortitude to confront difficult issues concerning the medium of photography. Good stuff!
Pause, to Begin is founded by Ethan Jones and David Write.
